The Jefferson City Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team is comprised of Operators, Snipers, and Medics. They respond to the High Risk Search Warrants/Arrests/Surveillance, Dignitary Protection, Barricade/Hostage Rescue, and Wide Area Search.
Special Weapons and Tactics
The Jefferson City Police Department Crisis Negotiations Team responds to incidents requiring communication with suspects involved in a highly emotional situation such as: Barricaded Suspects, Suicidal Subjects, Hostage Situations.
Crisis Negotiations
The Jefferson City Police Department Drone Robot team is a detachment of the SWAT team and assists with high risk incidents. Along with assisting SWAT they also are used for crime scene documentation, wide area outdoor searches, and suspect apprehension.
Drone Robot Team
The Jefferson City Police Department Criminal Investigations Section is responsible for investigating all major criminal offenses and plays a lead role in identifying, locating and apprehending the most dangerous criminal perpetrators. They get specialized training and are responsible for the follow-up investigation of crimes, the analysis of crime trends, and the support and assistance to crime victims.

The Jefferson City Police Department Honor Guard participates in a wide variety of community events each year.

The Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Unit is responsible for traffic law enforcement, traffic collision investigations & reconstruction, traffic safety education and escorts.
In addition, these Officers respond to citizen concerns regarding traffic issues within the community through directed enforcement efforts.
Traffic Unit
The Jefferson City Police Department 's School Resource Officers are stationed at each of our secondary education schools with one rotating through all our elementary schools. This unit also works a wide variety of special events such as; high school sporting events, downtown festivals, and parades.

The Jefferson City Police Department Community Action Team is a special-projects based team that works in cooperation with citizens, businesses, and other community groups to promote crime prevention through community involvement and improvement.. They handle a wide variety of duties such as; attending community events, combating street crimes, assisting detectives, and community presentations.
